Constructivism in Organic Chemistry Nomenclature Education

Organic chemistry nomenklature is one of the most importatnt matter of chemistry education. Its last change occured in 1993. The available high school chemistry textbooks, which have been analized, deal with nomenclature very briefly. They use the instructive educational approach which is mostly based on deduction. However, it is contrary to the contemporary attitude of education. This is the substantiation for creating the alternative procedure and verifying the availability in practice. This work presents two worksheets that deal with the introduction of the organic chemistry nomenclature. This is the substantiation of creating the alternative procedure and verifying the availability practice. This metodology has been assesed by teachers of grammar schools. Due to the reactions, the material was positively evaluated not only by students but also by teachers themselves. Remarks acquired by piloting were incorporated into the material and can therefore be tested on a larger representative sample.
